Winter Storm in The Old Dominion
After many false alarms of snow in our area this winter and last, we finally had the big snow storm we hoped we'd get! When we got up this morning at 7am we had about 4 inches of snow, and 10 to 12 additional inches were expected.
We were hoping that we'd get some snow so we made sure we had all the necessary items we'd need; milk, bread, batteries and flashlights, candles and oil lamps, gas- in case we lost electricity. We loaded up the back porch wood stand, stocked up on Bailey's, peppermint schnapps, hot chocolate and put the snow shovel by the back door! We were ready!
This is Eva's first real snow and at first she didn't know what to expect!
Ian, John and I took Eva for a walk down to the primary school (the boys old school) to play ball in the school yard. Ian decided he'd swing a bit.

finding a green tennis ball in about 6 inches of snow isn't too easy and it's COLD!
Throw it again Dad!!

Happy New Year!!
Another year has gone and it was time, once again for the Birdwell guys annual game night to catch up after the Holidays and before people head back to college and work life. Ian and Arrick invited some of their nearest and dearest friends over to help celebrate and bring in the new year! Of course, it's much nicer with munches and noise makers!
After much debate, not really, the guys settled on a game to play for the evening!
Arrick, Zak, Gabe, Andrew, Thomas and Ian took their places at the table!
Soon midnight arrived!!!!!!
The guys count down with the tv to welcome in 2010!!!
I know the picture is blurry but you can sort of see the streamers from the poppers!!
Confetti and hats are a must!
horns and fireworks filled the air!
Gabe, confetti man!
and after all the poppers were fired, the confetti swept up, the guys went back to playing their game but this time wearing their New Year Top Hats!
From our family to yours, may your new year be filled with much happiness, good health and may the world rebound to welcome a much more prosperous 2011!
